Publish to Tableau Cloud in one click

Connect Previzio to your Tableau Cloud workspace. Generate a dashboard with AI, then push it straight to your team's Tableau site — no file download, no Desktop app required.

What you get

  • One-click publish from any Previzio dashboard to your Tableau Cloud workspace
  • Pre-built measures (Total Revenue, Avg AOV, …) ready to drag-drop in Tableau Data pane
  • Filters, chart variants, and layout preserved 1:1 with the Previzio canvas
  • Re-publish updates the same workbook in place — no version sprawl

Setup — 5 minutes, one-time

STEP 1

Get a Tableau Cloud account

If you already have one — skip ahead. Otherwise: start a 14-day Tableau Cloud trial. You need Creator seat to publish workbooks. The trial gives full Creator access automatically.

Tableau Public (the free public-sharing service) doesn't work — it has no REST API. You need Tableau Cloud.

STEP 2

Enable Personal Access Tokens for your site

Tableau Cloud trial sites have PAT disabled by default. Enable once at the site level:

  1. In Tableau Cloud, left sidebar → Settings.
  2. Open the General tab.
  3. Find Personal Access Tokens section.
  4. Check «Enable personal access tokens» «All users on this site» → click Save.
STEP 3

Generate your Personal Access Token

Now generate the token your Previzio will use:

  1. Top-right user icon → My Account Settings.
  2. Scroll to Personal Access Tokens section.
  3. Token name: previzio-publish (any name works).
  4. Click Create new token.
  5. ⚠ Copy the secret value from the popup immediately. Tableau shows it only once — if you close the popup without copying, you'll have to recreate the token.
STEP 4

Note your Site URL and Site name

Open any Tableau Cloud page while signed in. Look at your browser address bar — the URL has the shape:

https://10ay.online.tableau.com/#/site/yoursitename/...
  • Site URL: everything up to .tableau.com — e.g. https://10ay.online.tableau.com. Yours may have a different pod prefix (10ay, prod-ch-a, eu-west-1a, …).
  • Site name: the slug after /#/site/ — e.g. yoursitename. Leave blank in Previzio if Tableau uses your default site.
STEP 5

Connect in Previzio

Open any dashboard in the Previzio editor. In the top toolbar, click the Publish icon (upload arrow, next to Download).

Paste the four values into the Connect form:

  • Site URL — from step 4.
  • Site name — from step 4 (blank for default).
  • PAT name — what you named the token in step 3.
  • PAT secret — the secret from step 3.

Click Connect. You'll see your Tableau projects in a dropdown — pick one, name the workbook, and hit Publish. Done.

FAQ

What happens to my PAT secret?

Stored row-level secured in our Supabase, scoped to your user only. Never logged, never sent to third parties. You can revoke the PAT in your Tableau Cloud Account Settings any time — revoking it breaks Previzio's publish until you paste a new one.

Does re-publishing overwrite?

Yes — by default «Update existing» updates the same Tableau workbook (matched by name + project). Use «Publish as new» to create a separate copy with a different name.

Can I publish to multiple Tableau sites?

Right now: one Tableau Cloud connection per Previzio user. Multi-site support is on the roadmap.

What about Power BI Service?

Same one-click flow with Microsoft OAuth — see the Power BI Service guide.
